Little Pinecone Explorers is thoughtfully designed for older preschool and kindergarten-aged children who are not quite ready to commit to a full-day program. It offers a gentle, engaging introduction to a learning community while honoring the developmental needs of this special age.
Our days are filled with exploration, art, nature play, storytelling, and meaningful opportunities to build friendships and practice social skills. We follow a child-led approach, allowing curiosity to guide discovery while surrounding children with rich literature that inspires imagination, language, and connection.
Nature is thoughtfully interwoven into every part of our program rather than treated as a separate activity. Children learn outdoors and with natural materials as much as possible—observing seasonal changes, collecting treasures, building with sticks and stones, engaging in sensory-rich experiences, and developing respect for the living world around them. Whether we are reading under the trees, creating art with found materials, or investigating insects and weather patterns, nature becomes both the classroom and the teacher, grounding learning in real, tangible experiences.
We place a strong emphasis on early STEM experiences, giving children hands-on opportunities to experiment, build, question, problem-solve, and explore how the world works. Through playful investigations and open-ended materials, children gain confidence in thinking creatively and scientifically.
Our teachers are warm, kind, and supportive guides who listen closely and step in when needed, creating a safe and nurturing environment where children feel seen, heard, and valued. Friendships blossom here, and with them, come moments of conflict—viewed as important learning opportunities where children are gently supported in developing communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
